UK Roadside Drug Test

Police roadside checks now include a ‘field impairment assessment’ if they think you’re on drugs. This is a series of tests, eg asking you to walk in a straight line. They can also use a roadside drug kit to screen for cannabis and cocaine.

The Police are legally able to screen for Cannabis, Cocaine, Opiates, Methadone, Amphetamine & Benzodiazepines. This covers many prescription drugs in addition to illegal drugs. Budget limits have not seen these more extensive screens rolled out nationwide.

In fact, roadside testing varies vastly across the UK as the reports of prosecutions reveal. Some forces have been far more active than others.

Our UKDrugTesting 6 drug saliva screen is the closest match to the full 6 Police roadside tests currently available. Confusion over the sensitivities of the tests is common as 2 sets of levels are quoted, roadside screening levels and laboratory confirmation test levels. These should not be confused.
